Caffeine Intake Might Protect Against Dementia

Study results published in "Alzheimer’s Dementia" suggest that caffeine intake may have a beneficial effect on memory deficits and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) amyloid beta (Aβ) markers among individuals with mild cognitive impairment (MCI) and Alzheimer's disease. Previous studies have found that caffeine is linked to a reduced risk for total mortality, dementia, and Alzheimer's disease. Additionally, caffeine has been associated with improved behavioral symptoms among patients with dementia. However, relatively little is known about caffeine and Alzheimer's biomarkers.
