With the aging population, dementia cases in the United States are projected to double by 2060, rising to one million new cases annually. Currently, the lifetime risk of developing dementia after age 55 stands at a startling 42%, with women facing an even higher likelihood due to their longer life expectancy. While aging is the most significant risk factor, conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, poor mental health, and obesity also contribute to this rising crisis.
