Researchers say a simple blood test could help flag which older women face a higher risk of dementia long before any symptoms appear. Dementia usually builds slowly over many years. By the time memory problems show up, changes in the brain may already be well underway. A blood test that works earlier could help researchers identify people at higher risk, test prevention strategies sooner, and identify high-risk participants for prevention trials without relying on more invasive procedures like spinal taps or expensive brain scans.
