What can we do to protect our brains as we age? In a roundtable discussion, held at the CUNY Graduate Center, faculty and guest neuropsychologists shared tips on maintaining brain health as we get older. Panelists at the sold-out event, part of the GC Presents public programs, explained how a combination of lifestyle factors can improve quality of life, slow cognitive decline, and reduce the risk of dementia. One key factor is social activity. Indeed, more evidence emerges by the day showing the positive impacts of social engagement on brain health, along with less risk of depression, stroke, and dementia.
