The industry needs to stop treating the screening gap as an awareness problem and start treating it as an infrastructure problem. Awareness campaigns don’t help a DON who has three call-outs and a state survey next week. Guidelines don’t help when the person who would administer the screen is also responsible for medication passes, wound care and family communication. What would help is acknowledging that traditional screening models canncot scale in the current workforce environment.
