When you hear 'nicotine', brain health probably isn’t the first thing that comes to mind. For most of us, nicotine is synonymous with smoking and its harmful effects, including its highly addictive nature and an increased risk of diseases like vascular dementia. Yet, in recent years, researchers have started exploring how nicotine itself, separate from smoking, might have potential benefits for cognitive health. This includes studies into its possible role in addressing cognitive decline and conditions like Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and Parkinson's disease.
