Current neuroimaging and biomarker research is strongly focused on identifying individuals at high risk of developing dementia. In contrast, cognitive markers for early stage of Alzheimer’s disease are virtually non-existent, as diagnostics tool and outcomes measures remain centered on episodic memory deficits despite their low sensitivity and specificity for identifying at-risk individuals.
